工业上石英砂常分为：普通石英砂，精制石英砂，石英砂，熔融石英砂及硅微粉等。

普通石英砂：即SiO2≥90—99% Fe2O3≤0.06—0.02%，耐火度1750℃，外观：部分大颗粒表面有黄皮包囊。普通石英砂一般是采用天然石英矿石，经破碎，水洗，烘干，二次筛选而成的一种水处理滤料；该滤料具有：无杂质，无棱角，密度大，机械强度高，载污能力线使用周期长的特点，是化学水处理的理想材料。粒度范围5—220目，可按用户要求粒度 。主要用途：冶金，墨碳化硅，玻璃及玻璃制品，搪瓷，铸钢，水过滤，泡花碱，化工，喷吵等行业。

精致石英砂：又称酸洗石英砂，SiO2≥99—99.5�2O3≤0.005%，采用天然石英砂，砂浆。

石英砂：SiO2≥99.5—99.9% Fe2O3≤0.001%，采用天然石英石，砂浆。

熔融石英砂：化学成份：SiO2 99.9-99.95% Fe2O3 5PPM-25PPM max Li2O 1-2PPM max Al2O3 20-30PPM maxK2O 20-25PPM max Na2O 10-20PPM max（PPM为百万分之一单位）
